The Tokyo Metropolis offers an enormous collection of beautiful islands, Izu archipelago and Ogasawara islands within 1,000 km vertical area on Pacific Ocean. Izu archipelago encompasses Oshima, Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, Mikurajima, Hachijojima, and Aogashima. Ogasawara islands encompasses Chichijima and Hahajima. People are living on these 11 islands, and each island has its own attractive nature, culture, and local products. You can reach these island by boat and airplane, and you will find unexpected paradise which is very different from Tokyo which you have been.
Miyakejima Island Monitor Tour Application
Miyakejima island is blessed with an unmatched scenic beauty due to the beautiful natural wonders created by volcanic eruptions. In this monitor tour, you will experience the massive power, mystery, and beauty of nature. By experiencing the daily life of Miyakejima, you will be able to feel the earth’s pulse of volcanic activity. You will also observe wild birds, explore the underwater world with diving and fishing experiences, and watch magical sunsets over the Pacific Ocean at the “Furusato no Yu” hot spring. We are looking for foreigners living in Tokyo with an interest in Japanese culture and history.

You’ll experience monitor tours that serve up different tourism programs. Like a food taster, you’ll sample each activity and then let us know your thoughts and feelings about the plans.
It’s also a requirement that monitor tour participants share their experience within their social media circles, e.g., via Instagram or Facebook, during tours. We encourage monitor tour participants to post on their social media channels at least three times each day for the entirety of the journey.
The applicants should also be open to being recorded and publicised. Such pictures and videos are necessary for marketing purposes and, as such, will be used for promotional purposes, including but not limited to SNS and website information.
Applicants will be invited to attend Izu Island PR events or a gathering program to share their experience. Dates will be announced shortly after the monitor tour ends. Attendance to a PR event is not a requirement, but we will greatly appreciate it.
The company will foot the bill for accommodation, meals and transport including round-trip ferry tickets, but it will not cover any personal purchases. Fare charges between the applicant’s location and agreed point of the meeting also lie with the participants.
My Miyakejima Island Story
Miyakejima Island: “The island living with a volcano.” The island is famous for its incredible natural geographical features. The Island has many incredible features, such as wild birds, warm climate, tropical fish, hot springs, and breathtaking landscapes. In this monitor tour, we’ll highlight the unique nature of the island, its outdoor activities, volcanic fields, and the wonders of the underwater world. With the island’s location of 180 kilometers south of Tokyo's coast, we aim to eliminate the travel boundaries and encourage people from the city to visit freely and discover the fun of visiting and getting to know the locals and their way of life.EXPLORE ≫
Miyakejima Monitor Tour Schedule: Thursday, February 27th to Saturday, 29th
(2 Nights, 3 days)
We’ll depart from Tokyo to Miyakejima early in the morning from Chofu Airport at 08:40 a.m. and we will arrive to Miyakejima Airport at 9:30 a.m. After arriving, we will take a taxi to Miyakejima Tourist Association in Ako district. Where we will rent an electric-assist bicycle and stroll around the Toga Shrine, which enshrines the creator of the Izu Islands, and the Nippana Shinzan mountain cliff, which was formed overnight due to the seabed explosion caused by the eruption in 1983. For Lunch we will have Miyakejima’s popular cuisine at Yamanobe Ryokan.
In the afternoon, we will experience GEO half-day guided tour with the nature guide. We will stroll around the Ako district and enjoy many natural sceneries including the “Eyeglass rock”, the “Ako Lava Trail” where you can see the ruins of an elementary and junior high school buried in lava spilled by the eruption in 1983.
We will also visit “Koshiki no ana” where you can walk the crater erupted in 1643, and “Shichito Observatory” where you can overlook all the Izu Islands.
When the evening sets in, you will enjoy a relaxing experience at the hometown hot spring facility “Furusato no Yu” where you can see the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Then, the day ends with a dinner at “Ikeyoshi” which is also the place of your accommodation.
On the second day, we will start the day with a delicious breakfast at the Minshuku “Ikeyoshi”. Then, we will experience a half-day Miyakejima GEO tour with a nature guide. We will visit beautiful landscapes created or buried by the volcanic eruptions such as Shiitori Shrine, Hyotanyama crater, Sanshichiyama crater, and the largest freshwater pond in the Izu Islands called “Tairo-Ike Pond”. After the tour we will have lunch at GIZMO cafe in the Tsubota district. Then, we will enjoy a walking tour in Tsubota district. There are places such as “Miyake Nature Center, Akakkokko station”, where you can learn about the outlook of wild birds observed in the island. You can also visit “Miyakejima Recreation Center” where they have one of the largest bouldering facilities in Japan.
At the end of the day we will have dinner at “Ritano”, a stylish bar in the Kamitsuki district. And the accommodation will be at “Ikeyoshi”.
In the morning at 10:00 am, you will experience herbarium craft at Atelier Fleur Aqua in the Ako district. See more
After that, we will have a free time and activities can be arranged according to the wishes of the monitor tour participants. (Example of how to enjoy the free time: Take a bus trip on the island to visit the Cape Izu lighthouse in the Izu district). If we visit the Izu district lunch will be at Gallery Cafe “Canon“.
After lunch, our last stop will be at Miyakejima Tourist Association in the Ako district, we will print a commemorative photo with the app. Go to the airport by taxi, and return to Tokyo by the third flight at 15:30 p.m. The expected arrival time at Chofu Airport is at 16:20 p.m.
